On November 7, 2009, the Metro Chicago Progressive Media Network organized a panel presentation and breakout session at Grace Place in downtown Chicago. The event, titled "Media Democracy Day: Time to Talk Back" featured presentations by Bob Koehler, Jeremy Gantz, Harvey Wells, Antonio Zavala, Mike Barr, Tim Wait, Jeanette Foreman, Mitchell Szczepanczyk Veronica Arreola, and Kevin Gosztola.
